Formula 1 circus has a lot fanatical followers and many of them cheer for most successful team in history of Formula racing, Italian Scuderia Ferrari. This phenomenal “stable” isn’t connected only with “studs” but through numerous licenses, Ferrari is linked with some products that aren’t in any correlation with race cars. Among sundry articles from sneakers to Segway you can find even TFT monitors with Ferrari brand that are produced by Acer. We are now presenting to you 22inch model produced in limited series and each TFT has unique identification number.
There aren’t many curved surfaces on this monitor which actually gave it certain “pro” sense, like it really fit well into pit stop info center. Touch sensitive keys marked with blue light are very nice ergonomic and visual detail. Power button lights red and it is rotated in a way that it resembles speedometer. But that was obviously too subtle so, just in case, a Ferrari badge is located in the middle of the monitor. Ferrari logo is on two more places on the backside of the monitor: on metal plate, where is written serial number of your sample, and on hologram sticker that represents official Italian approval.
In OSD menu beside standard settings also can be found ACM (Adaptive Contrast Management) “switch”. When this option is on, contrast automatically adjusts to contents and it looks like manufacturer managed to find right balance between too little and too much mixing. During work, you won’t notice anything “unnatural” happening, you will only observe very dynamic colors. Panel is glossy type, the one that you cannot, in most cases, avoid when you purchasing notebook. If you actually want to avoid it, which is a question of taste, rather than objectively differences comparing to wide-spread matte screens.

Backlight hardly noticeably affects uniformity of black color but we must admit that we expected better dealing with this problem from one top model. Gradient display precision is minimally compromised in 18-bit palette, but true color ramps are displayed smoothly and without noticeable faults. Horizontal viewing angle is very good but vertical is, in best case scenario, barely satisfactory. For that, up to some point, we could blame shiny screen surface. Response times are very good and in practice this monitor is acting as Ferrari. Unusual effects that we observed during this test, point at overdrive settings, and that problem is confirmed even on Acer’s site.

Conclusion
If you are not one of those to whom Ferrari brand means so much, or you perhaps disagree with endless exploitation of good name that old Enco has built, indiscreet logo might bother you. Therefore, bigger price that goes with this model might be to some people unjustified. Glossy screen isn’t generally accepted with thumbs up gesture, but we believe that on the market exist enough proponents, or at least indifferent ones, that are also Ferrari fans. There isn’t better choice for them, clearly than this Acer F-22 monitor especially if we consider that it showed good performances in all disciplines. Excellent manufacturing and response time are most expressive qualities which are also expected from one F1 car.
